Introducing Folk, Acoustic and World Music to Torbay

As part of our move to the Livermead Cliff Hotel in Torquay, we took the exciting decision to broaden our live music programme beyond jazz. While jazz remains at the heart of what we do, we recognised a growing appetite for outstanding folk, acoustic and world music performances in Torbay and across South Devon.

We began by introducing a carefully selected series of concerts featuring some of the UK’s finest folk and acoustic artists. What started as a cautious expansion has quickly grown into a successful and much-loved part of our programme.

Our audiences have already enjoyed memorable performances from Samia Malik, Reg Meuross, Old Baby Mackerel, Charlie Dore & Julian Littman, Alvorado, Cider House Rebellion, The Haar, Jackie Oates & John Spiers with their festive Christmas show, John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett, Brooks Williams, Eddi Reader & John Douglas, and Sarah McQuaid.

The enthusiastic response from audiences has confirmed that there is a real demand for high-quality folk and acoustic concerts in Torbay. As a result, Fougou Folk Torbay has become an established part of our live music programme, celebrating exceptional musicians from the UK and beyond.

Looking ahead, we’re delighted to welcome even more acclaimed artists to the stage, including The Phil Beer Trio and Steve Tilston, with many more exciting concerts planned.
