The Sam Massey Ensemble is a new jazz-funk septet showcasing the original compositions and arrangements of a number of talented British Jazz artists, including Kenny Wheeler, Steve Waterman, Laurence Cottle, Lewis Riley and Sam Massey.
Sam performs regularly on trumpet and flugelhorn throughout the South West, is a regular member and soloist with the Mike Westbrook Big Band, working with musicians such as Mike & Kate Westbrook, Dave Holdsworth, Mark Bassey, Lou Gare, Alan Wakeman, Roz Harding and Lewis Riley amongst many others. Recently he has been recording A Bigger Show with Mike Westbrook’s Uncommon Orchestra, a double album produced by Jon Hiseman. He also plays reguarly with The Simmertones a nine-piece ska and reggae band.
